Emergencies

Always Have A Plan

We just returned from spring break and had QUITE an adventure. We were in a remote part of West Caicos (will write about that location later) and my husband decided to leave part of his face at the bottom of a pool. It was on a Sunday and we were not exactly sure if there were ambulances or where the hospital even was. To say the least, we were not prepared for an emergency.

Usually we have this information researched prior to traveling, but this time it just didn’t happen. Believe me when I say, we will never make that mistake again. I will always be sure to know where the nearest hospital or urgent care is located for every trip we take.

That being said, we were able to stop his bleeding and luckily had some first aid on hand. We always travel with a mini first aid kit along with all possible medication we may need. We take it ALL. My kids have a history of asthma so I still take every thing they could possibly need on every vacation; even if they haven’t had a recent attack.

I’m not sure if we have ever taken a trip where someone in our family hasn’t got hurt or sick…we’ve learned the hard way to stay prepared.

Here’s some other items I also like to include:

Benedryl

Melotonin

Ibuprofen

Pedialyte

Pepto/Anti-Diarrhea

BUG SPRAY/SUNSCREEN/ALOE (very important)
